The Escape and Rescue

  • After the General’s death, the kidnappers became highly agitated and attempted to flee the area on motorcycles with Hajiya Amina as their primary captive.

  • Upon hearing distant gunfire, the bandits became confused and dispersed, leading her captor to abandon her midway.

  • In a final act of violence, the bandit shot her in the thigh and fled, leaving her bleeding and helpless in the forest.

  • A local resident initially found her but was forced to flee when approaching gunfire—later identified as searching military troops—was heard.

  • The soldiers eventually discovered the widow and, with the help of the local resident, fashioned a makeshift stretcher from a plank to transport her to a vehicle.

Current Status

  • Hajiya Amina received initial treatment at the Federal Medical Centre in Katsina, where access was strictly limited to authorized personnel and family.

  • Although she suffered a severe thigh wound with heavy blood loss, the injury did not result in a bone fracture.

  • On June 18, 2026, she was transferred to Abuja to receive more advanced medical care.
