Fractured Front: Ozodinobi Launches Aggressive Campaign To Oust Ugochinyere.

Published

The struggle for the House of Representatives Minority Leader seat has intensified, with acting leader George Ozodinobi labeling Ikenga Ugochinyere’s reported leadership bid as “a joke taken too far”.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

This friction stems from claims that 61 opposition members are backing Ugochinyere to succeed former Minority Leader Kingsley Chinda, who resigned last week following his selection as the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Rivers State.

Ozodinobi, who was already serving in an acting capacity before Chinda’s resignation, pushed back against the challenge by citing parliamentary norms. He stated that House rules discourage first-term lawmakers from seeking principal positions, characterizing the attempt as a significant breach of legislative tradition. While emphasizing that he is not desperate for the role, Ozodinobi dismissed the legitimacy of the opposition’s push.

The situation grew more volatile when Deputy Spokesman Philip Agbese alleged that his signature had been forged. Agbese claims his endorsement was secured under false pretenses, explaining that he signed a document regarding the equitable distribution of minority offices rather than a nomination form for Ugochinyere. Denouncing the act as a “gross misrepresentation” and a “breach of trust,” Agbese has challenged proponents of the document to submit it for forensic verification.
