Musa Farouk Abubakar, the Managing Director of Abu-Haneefa Oil and Gas Limited, has been brought before the Federal High Court in Abuja to face a 15-count amended charge involving fraud, conspiracy, corruption, and money laundering. The Allegations The EFCC’s charges center on the alleged movement of illicit funds totaling ₦691.7 million. Specifically, prosecutors claim that in July 2025, Abubakar transferred ₦297 million from his company’s Zenith Bank account to Attoh’s Access Bank account. Subsequently, it is alleged that Abubakar directed Attoh to move ₦262.9 million of those funds to Mshell Homes Limited, which was reportedly used to purchase a property at Kapital Villa in Guzape, Abuja. Investigators maintain these transactions represent proceeds of corruption.

Court Proceedings and Bail All defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges. During the proceedings:

  • Abubakar’s Custody: Despite a bail application filed on May 19, 2026, Justice Egwuatu ordered that Abubakar be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre until his legal team addresses the prosecution’s counter-affidavit.

  • Attoh’s Bail: The court granted bail to Sandra Chizoba Attoh in the sum of ₦200 million.

  • Bail Conditions: To secure her release, Attoh must provide two sureties who reside in Abuja and possess property. One surety must be a civil servant of at least Grade Level 15, required to submit proof of their employment and recent promotion. Both sureties must also provide valid identification and passport photographs.

The trial is scheduled to commence on September 1 and 2, 2026.
