The Governor recounted how Emmanuel supported him through the challenges of the 2023 election, stating, “Politics was not my career path, but God put me in the heart of Udom Emmanuel; he did all for me”. Governor Eno emphasized that he refuses to engage in criticism of past leaders, prioritizing loyalty and gratitude over the shifting interests often associated with political life. He jokingly remarked that while he might not be a “good politician” because he refuses to lie, his administration remains focused on delivering democracy’s dividends to the people.

Focus on Infrastructure and Public Accountability Governor Eno also outlined his administration’s commitment to accountability and infrastructure development:

  • Contract Oversight: The government intends to review all stalled projects, with the possibility of terminating non-performing contracts to ensure public funds are not squandered.

  • Road Development: Strategic projects, such as the reconstruction of the Ikot Akpaden–Iko Road and the dualization of Ring Road III, are currently underway to boost business and connectivity.

  • Uyo Infrastructure: A new monitoring committee, featuring journalists and civil society members, will be established to identify and report failed road sections and potholes throughout the metropolis for urgent repair.

  • Power Supply: Regarding electricity, the Governor urged citizens to remain patient, noting that the administration is navigating complex implementation challenges to secure a more stable power supply for the state.

In closing, Governor Eno reiterated that his administration remains dedicated to implementing development plans that improve the welfare of all Akwa Ibom residents.
