on

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) temporarily halted the collation of its nationwide presidential primary results on Tuesday night, shortly before midnight, after processing results from 25 states. The exercise, conducted at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja, is expected to resume today at 8:00 p.m.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Chief Ikechi Emenike, Chairman of the Presidential Primary Election Committee, explained that the pause was necessary to accommodate Muslim party members observing the Eid al-Kabir festivities and to allow returning officers facing travel delays to reach the federal capital.

Key points regarding the status of the primary:

  • Current Standing: While official results are still being tabulated, early reports indicate that former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has taken a significant lead over fellow aspirants Rotimi Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.

  • Aspirants’ Concerns: Both Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen have previously expressed dissatisfaction with the process, alleging that the primary was marred by widespread manipulation.

  • Party’s Response: The ADC, through its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, has urged the aggrieved aspirants to follow formal party and electoral channels to register their complaints. The party emphasized that it is premature to validate or dismiss allegations of rigging while the collation process remains incomplete and evidence is still being reviewed.

Nigerian entertainment lawyer Oyinkansola “Foza” Fawehinmi has revealed that she and her team have cataloged more than 5,000 tweets as part of a review into a deliberate, long-term harassment campaign against singer Simi.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Appearing on the JayOnairLive show, Foza disclosed the shocking figure, reports indicate, while blasting the coordinated online attacks. She specifically questioned the motivations behind targeting Simi during sensitive periods, such as her pregnancy.

“We went through over 5,000 tweets of sustained harassment. And the intention was to ensure that Simi becomes a shadow of herself,” Foza asserted during the interview.

The attorney underscored that this behavior goes far beyond typical online criticism or even isolated defamation.

“Defamation is, I come out and say, hey, Jay did X and X and X… Harassment is a sustained period of conversation,” she clarified. Foza argued that coordinated attacks over time, especially those involving threats to personal safety, move beyond simple defamation and constitute criminal harassment.

Foza emphasized the gravity of the situation for public figures, explaining the concrete repercussions these campaigns have in the real world.

“But people need to understand that these are not just mere statements. They have real-life implications, especially for celebrities. When things like this break out, the first thing is all the brands you’re working with start calling you. You start having to explain yourself,” she stated.

Expressing deep concern over the prevalence of cyberbullying within Nigeria’s entertainment industry, particularly on platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Foza argued that anonymity and monetization on social media are amplifying harmful behavior. She maintained that such sustained campaigns are a threat, potentially leading to physical danger.
