“No Ebola Case In Nigeria” — FAAN Assures Public On Health Status.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has assured air travellers and aviation stakeholders that there is no confirmed case of Ebola virus disease in Nigeria, despite renewed concerns following reported outbreaks in parts of Central Africa.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a statement released on Wednesday, FAAN said it has strengthened preventive and monitoring measures at international airports across the country to reduce the risk of importing the virus.
The agency explained that “robust health surveillance and monitoring systems” have been activated at all international airports to enable early detection and quick response to any suspected case.
FAAN also noted that it is collaborating with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), Port Health Services, and other relevant agencies to enhance passenger screening, particularly for travellers arriving from high-risk countries.
According to the authority, passengers are currently being screened for Ebola-related symptoms, while any suspected case is immediately isolated for further medical evaluation in line with national and international health guidelines.
The agency added that it has intensified staff training, strengthened emergency response protocols, and improved coordination among airport stakeholders to ensure preparedness.
While reaffirming that Nigeria remains Ebola-free, FAAN urged passengers to stay calm and comply with health screening procedures at airports.
It also advised travellers to promptly report any symptoms or health concerns to relevant authorities in order to support public health safety and maintain secure airport operations nationwide.
