APC Primary Election Sparks Outrage As Candidates Blow Hot Over Process.

Some aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Ondo Central senatorial primary have expressed concern that imposing an unpopular candidate could hurt the party’s chances in the 2027 general election.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

One of the aspirants, Olumuyiwa Adu, who spoke to journalists on Monday in Akure, condemned alleged intimidation by suspected political thugs during the exercise.

Adu claimed that armed youths were present at the venue, intimidating voters and openly insisting that only a preferred aspirant should be voted for. He warned that forcing candidates on party members could have serious political consequences for the APC in the state.

According to him, such practices undermine internal democracy and could weaken the party’s electoral strength. He also alleged that some armed individuals disrupted the process while threatening participants to vote in a particular direction. Despite the tension, he said he restrained his supporters from retaliating to avoid violence.

Another aspirant and member of the House of Representatives for Ondo Central, Adeniyi Adegbonmire, also described the exercise as a “complete charade,” alleging widespread intimidation, violence, and disruption across several wards.

He said armed thugs interrupted voting in his ward in Akure South when it became clear he was leading. Adegbonmire called for urgent intervention from the party’s national leadership, insisting that voters were deliberately prevented from participating.

He further alleged that similar incidents had occurred during earlier primary elections, describing the situation as a troubling pattern that must be addressed to preserve the credibility of the party’s internal processes.

However, another aspirant, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, gave a different account, describing the exercise in Ward 7, Ijomu, Akure, as peaceful and orderly. He commended the large turnout of supporters and said the process reflected the wishes of party members.

Fasoranti added that the exercise was smooth in his area and expressed confidence in the overall conduct of the primaries.

The Accord Party (AP) has strongly condemned the attack on Imole House, the campaign office and party secretariat of Governor Ademola Adeleke, located in Osogbo, Osun State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

It was gathered that the incident occurred on Sunday night in Osogbo, marking the second attack on the facility within two weeks by suspected thugs.

The attackers reportedly fired gunshots at the building, shattering glass windows and damaging several offices, including that of the Accord State Chairman, Victor Akande. A suspicious inscription on the wall reading, “Say No to automatic ticket,” was also discovered at the scene, suggesting a possible warning message.

In a statement signed by its National Chairman, Maxwell Mgbuden, the Accord Party said it had earlier alerted security agencies about alleged plans by political actors to deploy thugs to disrupt peace in the state ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

The party expressed shock that the attack still occurred despite those warnings, insisting it happened under the watch of security operatives.

Accord called on the Inspector General of Police and the Director-General of the DSS to immediately track down and prosecute those responsible, as well as their alleged sponsors. It also urged authorities to deploy adequate security around Imole House and other strategic locations to prevent further attacks.

The party condemned what it described as “garrison politics,” stressing that politics should be based on ideas rather than violence. It further alleged that opposition elements were behind efforts to destabilise the state through violent means.

Accord maintained that Governor Adeleke has performed well and deserves a second term, adding that the people of Osun State are prepared to vote for continuity in the coming election.
