Panic In Ondo: Party Leaders Escape As Thugs Hijack APC Primary Process.

Political thugs on Sunday invaded the All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat in Ondo State, disrupting the collation and announcement of results from Saturday’s House of Representatives primary elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The attackers, believed to be loyalists of some disqualified aspirants, reportedly forced a temporary suspension of activities at the APC secretariat in Akure, the state capital.

As tension rose, the Ondo APC Chairman, Kolawole Babatunde, party executives, electoral officials, delegates, and supporters were said to have fled the venue through the back exit to avoid possible violence.

Security personnel also evacuated members of the seven-man National Assembly Primary Election Committee, headed by Hon. Iboroma Harry Dabibi, from the secretariat during the chaos.

Eyewitnesses said the suspected thugs stormed the venue while results were being collated and demanded an immediate halt to the announcement process.

According to a source, a disqualified aspirant was allegedly behind the disruption after reportedly mobilising the hoodlums to the secretariat.

“It was a disqualified aspirant who allegedly mobilised the thugs to the venue, and the atmosphere suddenly became tense. People began leaving because nobody wanted the situation to escalate into violence,” the source revealed.

Another eyewitness disclosed that the disruption occurred just as officials were preparing to announce results for one of the federal constituencies.

“They were about to announce the result for one of the federal constituencies when someone on the phone instructed that the process should be stopped,” the eyewitness said.

“Initially, many believed the order came from the governor, but it was later alleged that it originated from another powerful figure within the state government.”

The witness further alleged that youths from various wards had been mobilised to the venue, where they shouted threats and vowed to disrupt the entire process, creating panic and an unsafe atmosphere.

As of the time of the incident, the APC leadership in Ondo State had not officially commented, although the chairman of the election committee eventually released the final results in the early hours of Monday.

The Accord Party (AP) has strongly condemned the attack on Imole House, the campaign office and party secretariat of Governor Ademola Adeleke, located in Osogbo, Osun State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

It was gathered that the incident occurred on Sunday night in Osogbo, marking the second attack on the facility within two weeks by suspected thugs.

The attackers reportedly fired gunshots at the building, shattering glass windows and damaging several offices, including that of the Accord State Chairman, Victor Akande. A suspicious inscription on the wall reading, “Say No to automatic ticket,” was also discovered at the scene, suggesting a possible warning message.

In a statement signed by its National Chairman, Maxwell Mgbuden, the Accord Party said it had earlier alerted security agencies about alleged plans by political actors to deploy thugs to disrupt peace in the state ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

The party expressed shock that the attack still occurred despite those warnings, insisting it happened under the watch of security operatives.

Accord called on the Inspector General of Police and the Director-General of the DSS to immediately track down and prosecute those responsible, as well as their alleged sponsors. It also urged authorities to deploy adequate security around Imole House and other strategic locations to prevent further attacks.

The party condemned what it described as “garrison politics,” stressing that politics should be based on ideas rather than violence. It further alleged that opposition elements were behind efforts to destabilise the state through violent means.

Accord maintained that Governor Adeleke has performed well and deserves a second term, adding that the people of Osun State are prepared to vote for continuity in the coming election.
