News reports that the brief adjournment was granted to allow defence counsel and court officials to properly reconcile and locate missing case files before proceedings resume.

El-Rufai was re-arraigned earlier on Monday by the Department of State Services (DSS) over allegations linked to the alleged interception of the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu’s phone communications.

He was brought to the court premises at about 8:55 a.m. under heavy security escort by armed DSS operatives.

Meanwhile, Justice Abdulmalik also granted bail to the former governor in the sum of ₦100 million, with one surety in the same amount.

The court ruled that the surety must reside in either Maitama or Asokoro in Abuja and must present the original Certificate of Occupancy of a landed property to be deposited at the court registry.

It further held that the surety must be a federal civil servant not below Grade Level 17, with proof of salary payments for at least three months, verified by a bank manager’s letter within the court’s jurisdiction.

The judge also ordered that the surety submit an affidavit of means, enter into a bail bond, and provide a recent passport photograph to the court registry.

In addition, El-Rufai was directed to surrender all valid international passports to the court, while the surety must also present a departmental verification letter and a tax clearance certificate covering the last six months.

Justice Abdulmalik further ordered the former governor to report to the DSS headquarters on the last Friday of every month by 10 a.m. to sign the attendance register pending the conclusion of the case.

The court warned that any breach of the bail conditions would lead to its automatic revocation.

It also directed El-Rufai to submit a letter of attestation from the Chairman of the Kaduna Traditional Council.

The football utilized by Diego Maradona to score his controversial “Hand of God” goal against England during the 1986 World Cup has been auctioned in the United States for £2.5m.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Adidas Azteca ball brought in $3.3m via Heritage Auctions on Saturday, which fell short of the estimated £7.3m ($10m) projection from experts.

Key details of the historic item and match include:

  • The Match: The ball was in play for the entirety of Argentina’s 2-1 quarter-final victory against England at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.

  • The Infamous Goal: Maradona scored both of Argentina’s goals, with his first involving him punching the ball past England goalkeeper Peter Shilton—an infraction missed by the referee. Post-match, Maradona famously attributed it to “a little with the head of Maradona and a little with the hand of God”.

  • Goal of the Century: Minutes later, the Argentina captain scored a legendary solo goal, weaving past five outfield players and rounding Shilton.

  • Prior Ownership: The ball was kept for over three decades by Tunisian referee Ali Bin Nasser, who officiated the match. He initially sold it in 2022 for £1.74m ($2.37m), though a subsequent attempt to sell it in 2023 did not meet the reserve price.

  • Related Memorabilia: This auction follows the 2022 sale of Maradona’s Argentina shirt from the same match, which fetched £7.1m.
