Ronaldo Suffers Heartbreak Again As Gamba Osaka Stun Al Nassr In AFC Champions League.

Cristiano Ronaldo suffered another major disappointment within a week as Al Nassr were beaten 1-0 at home by Gamba Osaka in Saturday’s AFC Champions League Two final.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Playing before 26,000 fans at the King Saud University Stadium in Riyadh, Al Nassr went into the final as strong favourites and hoped to become the first Saudi club to win the continent’s second-tier title. Instead, they ended the night empty-handed.

Gamba Osaka delivered the decisive blow in the 29th minute when Deniz Hummet latched onto Issam Jebali’s through pass and fired a clinical finish from the edge of the area to hand the visitors the lead.

Despite dominating much of the second half and mounting sustained pressure, Al Nassr were unable to break down the disciplined Japanese defence.

The defeat means Ronaldo is still waiting for his first major trophy since joining the Saudi side in 2023.

Head coach Jorge Jesus admitted his team paid heavily for a poor opening spell.

He said although his side prepared well, Gamba Osaka’s speed and early intensity caught them off guard, adding that Al Nassr were below their best in the first 30 minutes despite controlling the game afterward.

The loss compounded what has been a painful week for Ronaldo and his club.

Earlier in the week, Al Nassr were on the brink of securing the Saudi Pro League title before a dramatic late own goal forced a 1-1 draw with Al Hilal.

Following that setback, Ronaldo had remained optimistic, telling supporters on X that the dream was still alive and urging the team to stay focused.

The Saudi title race will now be decided on the final day of the season, with Al Nassr holding a slim two-point advantage and set to host Damac, while Al Hilal face Al Fayha.

Jorge Jesus insisted his side must quickly move on from the continental disappointment, stressing that there is no time to dwell on the loss with the league title still within reach.

He described the upcoming league clash as another final and emphasized the need for immediate recovery and preparation.

The football utilized by Diego Maradona to score his controversial “Hand of God” goal against England during the 1986 World Cup has been auctioned in the United States for £2.5m.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Adidas Azteca ball brought in $3.3m via Heritage Auctions on Saturday, which fell short of the estimated £7.3m ($10m) projection from experts.

Key details of the historic item and match include:

  • The Match: The ball was in play for the entirety of Argentina’s 2-1 quarter-final victory against England at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.

  • The Infamous Goal: Maradona scored both of Argentina’s goals, with his first involving him punching the ball past England goalkeeper Peter Shilton—an infraction missed by the referee. Post-match, Maradona famously attributed it to “a little with the head of Maradona and a little with the hand of God”.

  • Goal of the Century: Minutes later, the Argentina captain scored a legendary solo goal, weaving past five outfield players and rounding Shilton.

  • Prior Ownership: The ball was kept for over three decades by Tunisian referee Ali Bin Nasser, who officiated the match. He initially sold it in 2022 for £1.74m ($2.37m), though a subsequent attempt to sell it in 2023 did not meet the reserve price.

  • Related Memorabilia: This auction follows the 2022 sale of Maradona’s Argentina shirt from the same match, which fetched £7.1m.
