The exercise, which began over the weekend at the party’s state secretariat in Calabar, has already drawn interest from the party’s 2023 governorship candidate, Dr. Effiong Nyong, who became the first aspirant to officially indicate his intention to contest.
Speaking with journalists, Nyong said he had met all required conditions for participation, adding that only credible, qualified, and electable candidates should emerge as flagbearers of the party in the next general elections.
He said the ADC is positioning itself as a viable alternative for governance in Cross River State, while criticising the performance of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
According to him, the party is determined to address what it described as governance shortcomings and restore effective leadership in the state.
Nyong also stated that the ADC would not compromise its political direction through alliances or negotiations that could weaken its objectives.
He maintained that the party remains committed to accountability, development, and people-focused governance in Cross River State.
Speaking on the development, the party’s State Secretary, Dr. MacFarlane Ejah, confirmed that the sale of forms covers all elective positions, including National Assembly and State House of Assembly seats.
Ejah described the process as a key step in the party’s preparation for the elections, noting that the ADC is focused on presenting credible and people-oriented candidates.
He assured members that the exercise would be transparent and open to all eligible aspirants.
He said the ADC is committed to building a political platform founded on integrity, competence, and service to the people, urging interested citizens to take advantage of the opportunity to participate in leadership.
