Shock As Ex-Governor Mimiko Defects To All Progressives Congress.

Published

on

Former Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

reports that Mimiko visited the APC secretariat in Ondo West Local Government Area on Wednesday, where he formally completed his registration as a member of the ruling party.

He was received by the APC State Chairman, Babatunde Kolawole, and the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, amid excitement from party supporters.

Mimiko, who served as governor of Ondo State from 2009 to 2017, had earlier resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in April, fueling speculation about his next political move.

Before his time in the PDP, the former governor was a key figure in the Labour Party (LP), where he held significant influence at both state and national levels.

Sources told The Nation that his return to active party politics followed a period of relative political silence, during which he remained influential through loyal political networks across the state.

Party insiders described his defection as a strategic gain for the APC, noting that his experience and grassroots structures could boost the party’s strength, particularly in the Ondo Central Senatorial District.

A former spokesperson to Mimiko, Akinsola, also confirmed the development, stating that arrangements had been completed for his formal reception into the APC.
