Speaking on Wednesday after inspecting the newly reconstructed Rivers State Psychiatric Hospital, which has been converted into a general hospital in Rumuigbo, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, the governor said the claims circulating on social media were false.
He maintained that his political status remains unchanged and urged the public to disregard misinterpretations of his actions.
“I’m a member of the All Progressives Congress, and nothing has changed. People should stop using social media rumours or personal interpretations to misrepresent me. I have not gone anywhere. I remain a member of the APC,” he said.
On the hospital project, Fubara explained that the decision to convert the psychiatric facility into a general hospital was driven by the need to improve access to healthcare in the area.
He noted that during an earlier assessment, his administration discovered that residents had limited access to major medical facilities, with the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital being too far for many communities.
According to him, establishing a general hospital within the facility was necessary to bring healthcare closer to the people of Rumuigbo and surrounding areas.
Fubara expressed satisfaction with the completion of the project, describing it as a key achievement of his administration.
He added that the project reflects his government’s focus on delivering infrastructure that directly improves the lives and welfare of Rivers State residents.
