Shock As Tinubu Announces New Stage In France–Nigeria Economic Cooperation

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has welcomed the outcome of the 10th France–Nigeria Business Council Meeting held during the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi, Kenya, noting that both countries are now shifting focus toward the implementation of agreed business deals and investment commitments.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The development was contained in a State House press release shared on May 12, 2026 by the Presidential Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

According to the statement, trade volume between Nigeria and France rose to $4.7 billion in 2025, with Nigeria remaining the top destination for French investments in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The meeting had in attendance Nigeria’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole, as well as France’s Minister Delegate, Nicolas Forissier, alongside leading business executives from both countries.

President Tinubu commended the Chairman of the France–Nigeria Business Council, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, for convening the forum, which brought together key private sector stakeholders from Nigeria and France.

The statement also highlighted the participation of prominent business leaders including Aliko Dangote, Abdul Samad Rabiu, Tony Elumelu, and Wale Tinubu, as well as executives from multinational companies such as TotalEnergies, CMA CGM, Danone, and Accor.

Tinubu specifically welcomed a new agreement between Accor and Shoreline Group, which is set to establish Nigeria’s first national hotel platform.

According to him, “This is the partnership Nigeria is ready for. We are ready for investment that builds, capital that produces, and enterprise that creates jobs.”

He further reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving the business environment, attracting investors, and sustaining ongoing economic reforms.
