The governor made the clarification amid rumours that he had defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) as political alignments continue ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Fubara spoke on Wednesday after inspecting the newly built General Hospital and the upgraded Neuropsychiatric Hospital located in Rumuigbo, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

He dismissed the reports circulating in parts of the media, insisting that he has not left the ruling party and remains fully aligned with its objectives.

“I am a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and nothing has changed. People should stop relying on social media rumours or personal interpretations to misrepresent me,” he said.

“I have not gone anywhere. I remain in the APC, and what matters most is supporting the party’s overall interest.”

According to a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, the governor was guided round the facilities by the Director of Medical Services in the State Ministry of Health, Dr. Vincent Wachukwu.

The inspection covered hospital wards, conference halls, ICT centre, student hostel, staff quarters, and other key sections of the facilities.

Fubara expressed satisfaction with the completion of both projects, describing them as key interventions aimed at improving healthcare delivery in the state.

He explained that the decision to expand the facility into a general hospital followed the identification of gaps in healthcare access for residents in the area during earlier visits.

The governor noted that the nearest major health facility was the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, which he said was too far for surrounding communities, making the new hospital necessary.

He added that the project had now been fully completed and described it as a fulfilment of his administration’s promise to prioritise people-oriented development.
