Doguwa said backing Tinubu for a second term would amount to fairness and reciprocity, noting that the South supported the late President Muhammadu Buhari to complete two terms in office.
In a statement signed and released to journalists in Kano on Wednesday, the lawmaker, who also leads the Northern Caucus in the House of Representatives, insisted that the North has no justification to oppose Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
He said, “Voting for President Tinubu again by the North is a fulfilment of what is just, fair and honest, just like what the South did to us through late President Muhammadu Buhari; therefore, I expect an overwhelming number of votes for Tinubu in 2027.”
Doguwa added that the North should reciprocate the political support previously extended to Buhari, stressing that such cooperation would strengthen national unity.
He also appealed to his constituents in Tudun Wada/Doguwa who have left the All Progressives Congress (APC) to reconsider their decision and return to the party, promising continued development and inclusion.
“I don’t hold grudges against anybody in my federal constituency; I see everyone as a family member. We should come together and work for the good of our areas rather than fighting unnecessarily,” he said.
Doguwa further commended Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for what he described as peaceful leadership and called for unity among political stakeholders across party lines to promote stability and development.
