The meeting is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen and deepen reforms within the Nigeria Police Force.

The engagement, organised in collaboration with the Police Reform Secretariat (PRS), brought together representatives from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), UN Women, the British High Commission, and the Governments of Germany, Spain, and Slovakia, as well as the National Institute for Police Studies (NIPS) and other organisations supporting policing reforms in Nigeria.

In his address, the IGP reaffirmed the Police Force’s commitment to building a modern, professional, intelligence-driven, and accountable institution anchored on the rule of law, human rights protection, and stronger community engagement.

He said the reform initiative is designed to transform the Force into a technology-enabled and citizen-focused organisation capable of effectively addressing evolving security challenges.

Also speaking, the Head of the Police Reform Secretariat, Professor Olu Ogunsakin, outlined key components of the reform programme, including legal and policy adjustments, election security management, leadership training, improved oversight mechanisms, strategic stakeholder collaboration, and efforts to rebuild public trust.

He emphasised that sustained international partnerships remain crucial to achieving long-term institutional reform and strengthening policing capacity in Nigeria.
