The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain is also expected to announce a new political alliance between the PDP and the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM).
Sources say both developments will be unveiled at a major political gathering scheduled for Thursday, May 14, at Mapo Hall in Ibadan.
According to insiders, the event—tagged the “Unity Mega Rally Ibadan 2026”—is expected to mark the formal launch of Makinde’s 2027 presidential ambition, alongside the presentation of candidates and allies within a growing political coalition led by the governor and his supporters.
Party insiders also disclosed that consultations have intensified in recent weeks amid lingering internal tensions within the PDP at the national level, pushing some stakeholders and loyalists to explore alternative political alignments.
Observers believe the moves form part of a wider strategy to strengthen grassroots support across Oyo State and beyond, while expanding Makinde’s influence on the national political stage.
