JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, made the announcement on Monday during the 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions into Tertiary Institutions held in Abuja.

According to him, the initiative is designed to reduce costs, simplify logistics, and address recurring complaints from candidates about system failures during exams.

Oloyede added that the new approach would improve convenience while still safeguarding the integrity of the examination process.

He also revealed that other innovations currently about 90 percent ready would be introduced alongside the new system in 2027.

In a related development, the Federal Ministry of Education has announced that candidates seeking admission into Federal Colleges of Education will no longer be required to sit for the UTME.

Naija News reports that the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, disclosed the policy shift on Monday at the same JAMB 2026 Policy Meeting in Abuja.

Alausa said the exemption also applies to applicants for programmes in technology, agriculture, and related fields.

He explained that the decision is aimed at improving access to education and promoting skills-based learning opportunities.

However, he stressed that all affected candidates must still meet the required O’Level qualifications for admission.
