“Fubara Had No Leverage Against Wike” — Sam Amadi Drops Explosive Political Verdict.
Former Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Sam Amadi, has said Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara should have realised he lacked the political strength to successfully confront his political rivals, particularly his predecessor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
reports that Amadi made the comment on Monday in a post on his X handle following the reported disqualification of Fubara-backed aspirants from participating in the All Progressives Congress (APC) screening process for the 2027 Rivers State House of Assembly elections.
According to reports, all 32 aspirants believed to be loyal to Fubara failed to pass the APC screening exercise.
In contrast, 29 serving members of the Rivers State House of Assembly aligned with Wike, led by Deputy Speaker Dumle Maol, were cleared by the four-man committee to contest in the party’s primaries.
Reacting to the development, Amadi argued that Fubara did not possess the political leverage required to challenge his opponents effectively.
He suggested that the governor should have better assessed the power dynamics before entering into a political confrontation with Wike.
“Sad. Fubara should have known he had no leverage. What his opponent does in the political economy of election rigging, he cannot do,” Amadi wrote.
He added that while some battles may still be worth fighting even without guaranteed victory, such struggles should be rooted in principle rather than political convenience.
“Sometimes it is good to fight even if you cannot win. Fighting as a dignified person is enough reward,” he stated.
Amadi further argued that Fubara should not have turned against his political mentor unless there was a genuine and principled reason for doing so.
“By the way, Fubara should not have fought his mentor if there is no real reason to fight. Every fight should be principled, not opportunistic. If it is principled, then you can sustain it even if you will be bloodied,” he added.
