Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Sunday appeared before the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship screening panel ahead of the party’s primary election.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Sources close to the governor, who spoke with Vanguard, dismissed reports suggesting that he was treated unfairly or left the exercise dissatisfied.

There had been speculation that the governor exited the session on a negative note, but insiders insisted his brief stay was simply part of the standard screening procedure.

According to them, Fubara’s appearance before the panel was short and routine, lasting less than 20 minutes.

They explained that he was asked to “take a bow and go” after his screening, a common practice in political party vetting processes.

The governor was also said to have declined to speak with journalists after the session.

So far, the APC has screened two governorship aspirants in Rivers State — Fubara and Kingsley Chinda, who represents Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

APC Awaits Screening Report

The party’s screening committee is expected to submit its report after concluding its assignments, after which aspirants will be informed of their status and may proceed to the appeal stage if necessary.

The APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, confirmed that the committee would issue its report upon completion of its work.

He said: “I don’t know what you mean by screen. Anybody who appears before the screening committee is part of the process. After appearing before the screening committee, the committee will issue its report. As of now, the committee, having completed seeing everybody it is supposed to see, will now sit down and come out with its report. There is no report yet.”

Plateau Aspirant Commends Process

Meanwhile, a Plateau State governorship aspirant, Commander Yilchini Jan Bida (retd.), praised the screening exercise, describing it as evidence of the APC’s commitment to internal democracy.

He said the process was fair and transparent, noting that it provided equal opportunity for all aspirants.

Bida expressed optimism about his chances at the primaries, citing strong grassroots support across Plateau State.

Hon. Godson Odiniya, father of BBNaija Season 8 winner Ilebaye Odiniya, has spoken publicly about the rift between him and his daughter, explaining what led to their disagreement.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In an audio recording shared on social media by journalist Jeremiah Promise Enemona Ocheme on Sunday, Odiniya said the tension began after he sought financial assistance from Ilebaye for a planned medical trip to Dubai, but she allegedly turned down his request.

According to him, he had asked his daughter to temporarily lend him money because funds he was expecting had not yet been received, but she told him she did not have the money.

“The most recent one that I was not happy about was when I was supposed to go for a medical check-up in Dubai. I told my daughter, ‘I’m lacking resources, please borrow me a certain amount of money, the money I’m expecting hasn’t come.’ My daughter told me she doesn’t have money,” he said.

He further expressed disappointment after allegedly seeing her publicly spend large amounts of money shortly afterward.

“A week before that, come and see how my daughter was spraying bundles of money at the wedding of one of her colleagues, whom they call Cross,” he added.

Odiniya clarified that he had no issue with his daughter supporting her friends, but questioned why she could not also support him.

“That is not the problem. I will be happy if my daughter supports her colleagues, but what about your father? If you help your father, is anything wrong?” he said.

The controversy comes amid reports of Odiniya’s arrest over the alleged assault of his daughter at their residence in Royal Anchor Estate, Wuye, Abuja.

The incident drew widespread public attention after a viral video surfaced online on Saturday showing Ilebaye visibly distressed, in tears, and with noticeable facial swelling while calling for help during the altercation.
