Breaking: Fubara Cleared To Contest APC Governorship Primary In Rivers State.

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has been cleared by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to participate in the party’s governorship primary scheduled for May 21.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

It was gathered that Fubara was screened and approved by the APC screening committee at the Plateau Governors’ Lodge in Abuja on Saturday. He was among 17 serving governors whose credentials were examined as part of preparations for the party’s upcoming primaries.

The development comes shortly after the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, stated that he had not endorsed any candidate for the 2027 Rivers governorship election.

Speaking during his monthly media briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, Wike said any endorsement would only be decided after consultations within a state-level coalition.

“I haven’t endorsed anybody. And I can’t endorse anybody until the joint coalition meets,” he said.

Despite his comments, there have been growing speculations that Wike may be backing former Rivers State Commissioner for Works, Alabo Dakorinama George-Kelly, for the governorship race.

Reports suggest that Wike’s alleged preference followed a closed-door meeting with key political figures in Port Harcourt earlier in the week.

The APC governorship primary is expected to be a major test of influence among competing political blocs in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
