APC Hits Jackpot, Rakes In Massive ₦4.45bn From Nomination Forms.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has generated more than ₦4.45 billion from the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms ahead of the 2027 general elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The ruling party earned the revenue from two presidential aspirants, over 83 governorship aspirants spread across 28 states, alongside aspirants for the National Assembly and various state Houses of Assembly.

From the presidential race alone, the APC reportedly realised ₦200 million through the sale of forms to President Bola Tinubu and Stanley Osifo.

The party pegged governorship nomination forms at ₦50 million, Senate forms at ₦20 million, and House of Representatives forms at ₦10 million.

The massive income boost has significantly strengthened the APC’s financial base as preparations intensify for the elections, particularly at a time when opposition parties are still grappling with internal divisions.

Meanwhile, tensions within the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) escalated on Friday as its chairman and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, moved to counter opposition against his leadership.

Uzodimma secured the backing of 18 out of 31 APC governors in a major show of confidence.

This followed reports that he had been removed from his position on Thursday, with alleged plans to replace him with Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah.

There were also indications that separate blocs within the forum were being championed by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

However, after a closed-door meeting in Abuja, 18 APC governors publicly reaffirmed their support for Uzodimma’s leadership.

Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris, speaking after the meeting, dismissed reports of crisis and formally moved a vote of confidence in Uzodimma and his deputy, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani.

Sani also rejected claims of division within the forum, insisting that APC governors remain united and fully committed to supporting President Bola Tinubu.

According to him, the governors’ forum is stronger than ever and focused on consolidating support for the party ahead of the elections.

Governors from several states, including Ondo, Kaduna, Sokoto, Ebonyi, Borno, Lagos, Kogi, Kano, Yobe, Kebbi, and Benue, attended the meeting. Taraba’s governor was briefly present, while Jigawa and Nasarawa were represented by their deputies.

Uzodimma also brushed aside speculation about disunity, saying the governors were united in ensuring Tinubu’s success in the coming elections and committed to improving governance and social interventions for Nigerians.

At the same time, the APC has commenced the screening of governorship, Senate, and House of Representatives aspirants ahead of its primaries.

The party scheduled House of Representatives primaries for May 15, Senate primaries for May 18, and governorship primaries for May 21, 2026.

To oversee the process, APC constituted two screening committees — one for incumbent governors seeking re-election and another for other governorship aspirants.

APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, is leading the committee screening incumbent governors, with National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru serving as secretary.

A separate panel chaired by Dr. Ben Nwoye, with Emeka Offor as secretary, was established to screen other governorship aspirants.

Deregistration Drama: Courtroom Showdown Over ADC And Accord Party Hits A New Delay!.

Published

  • Case Adjournment: The Court of Appeal in Abuja has postponed the hearing of an appeal regarding the potential deregistration of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Accord Party, and three other political parties until July 7.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

    • Procedural Delay: The court moved the hearing date from June 25 to allow the involved parties sufficient time to file and exchange their briefs of argument.

    • Reasoning for New Date: Although Accord Party counsel, Musibau Adetunbi (SAN), requested a three-day window to file, Justice Abubakar Mohammed explained that the panel’s upcoming official commitments necessitated selecting July 7 as the earliest available date.

    • Background of the Dispute: The appeal follows a Federal High Court ruling by Justice Peter Lifu, which ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister the ADC, Accord Party, Action Peoples Party (APP), Action Alliance (AA), and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) for allegedly failing to meet constitutional performance benchmarks.

    • INEC’s Position: INEC has challenged this deregistration order, arguing that these parties met the necessary constitutional thresholds by securing elective positions in previous elections and providing certificates of return as evidence.

    • Stay of Execution: On June 16, the Court of Appeal previously ordered a stay of execution on the Federal High Court’s judgment, preventing INEC from proceeding with the deregistration until the current appeal is decided.

    • Procedural Criticism: The appellate court had previously criticized Justice Lifu for ignoring an earlier order to suspend proceedings, noting that such an action undermined the established hierarchy of the courts.

    • Origin of the Suit: The original legal challenge was filed by the National Forum of Former Legislators, who argued that these specific parties failed to meet the electoral performance standards required by the 1999 Constitution and the 2022 Electoral Act.
