Nigerian Passenger Sues British Airways Over Alleged Missing Luggage.
The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned proceedings to July 2 for the continuation of hearing in a case filed by a passenger, Mr. Amechi Michael, against British Airways over the alleged loss of his carry-on luggage.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
reports that during the resumed hearing, the plaintiff was cross-examined by defence counsel, Mr. John Godwin.
Under cross-examination, Michael told the court that he initially reported the missing luggage to the airline’s customer service unit.
He further stated that he was directed to the United Kingdom-based Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) for mediation.
According to him, the arbitrator later ruled in his favour regarding a flight delay complaint but did not make any determination on the missing luggage issue.
Dissatisfied with the outcome, Michael said he rejected the arbitral award and approached the Federal High Court in Abuja, seeking redress over the alleged loss.
He argued that British Airways owed him a duty of care to ensure the safe return of his luggage and accused the airline’s staff of negligence.
Counsel to the plaintiff, Barrister Abiola Olaitan, later informed the court of her intention to close her client’s case.
Following this, trial judge Justice Obiora Egwuatu adjourned the matter to July 2 for defence and further hearing.
The suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1293/2025, was filed against British Airways, with Michael seeking recovery of his allegedly missing carry-on luggage, which he said disappeared after a cabin crew member requested it be handed over for safekeeping during a delayed boarding process.

Addressing northern Christian leaders, Fani-Kayode claimed that during El-Rufai’s tenure, Christian communities faced violence, denial of developmental projects, and unequal allocation of resources. He asserted that Christian clergy members frequently endured insults and opposition regarding government policies, yet maintained a stance of prayer and non-violence.
Shifting his focus to the current administration, Fani-Kayode praised incumbent Governor Uba Sani—who previously served as a special adviser under El-Rufai—describing him as fair-minded and inclusive. According to Fani-Kayode, Sani had privately expressed deep concern over the previous administration’s approach toward religious groups in the state.
Furthermore, Fani-Kayode alleged that El-Rufai’s former deputy, Barnabas Bala Bantex, was also undermined and disrespected because of his faith during cabinet sessions. Concluding his remarks, Fani-Kayode emphasized that principles of fairness and spiritual duty must always transcend partisan politics.

“Please note, the fact that Hope Uzodimma is the secretary doesn’t mean he will be the one marketing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the Igbo nation. I believe that every other governor in the South-East also has a role to play,” Oshiomhole stated.
