The development was confirmed in a Facebook post on Friday by his spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa.

According to the statement, Yusuf submitted the form on Thursday in the company of several prominent political figures from Kano State.

Those present included former Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau; Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin; Senator Kawu Sumaila; members of the House of Representatives; and other notable personalities.

Dawakin-Tofa said the governor spoke to journalists at Treasure Suites shortly after submitting his nomination form.

Yusuf described his bid for a second term as a renewed mandate to serve the people of Kano State, pledging deeper commitment to development projects across the state.

He said his administration would intensify urban renewal efforts, with increased focus on road construction, drainage systems, and the modernisation of markets.

The governor also emphasised that rural development would remain a key priority, promising more investments in feeder roads, potable water, healthcare facilities, and schools in rural areas.

He further pledged to strengthen agricultural support programmes and youth empowerment initiatives across the state.

According to him, job creation and youth development would remain central pillars of his administration if re-elected.

Yusuf reaffirmed his commitment to improving education and healthcare services in Kano, while stressing the importance of unity, peace, and inclusive governance.

He added that he would continue working with stakeholders across political and social divides to drive progress in the state.

The governor also restated his alignment with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, saying it would help attract more federal projects and investments to Kano.

He thanked residents of the state for their continued support and confidence, assuring them of transparent and people-focused leadership.

It would be recalled that Yusuf defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the APC on January 26, 2026, following his resignation from the party amid internal disputes.

His defection was followed by several lawmakers, local government chairmen, and other political stakeholders who joined him in the APC.

Subsequently, Kano APC stakeholders endorsed him as the party’s sole governorship candidate and also presented him with his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms under a consensus arrangement ahead of the primaries.
