Drama In PDP As Makinde Camp Defies Critics, Vows To Push Ahead With Primaries.

Published

on

A faction of the interim leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has strongly condemned comments made by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, describing his media appearance as an “unsolicited display of political rascality, moral emptiness, crass opportunism, and post-defeat trauma.”....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

reports that during the media briefing, Wike allegedly threatened to stop the PDP primaries or national convention that would produce the party’s presidential candidate.

He also warned that any bank that allows the Turaki-led PDP faction to open an account for the sale of nomination forms ahead of the 2027 elections would face consequences.

Wike further argued that any attempt by the faction to sell nomination forms would amount to deceiving Nigerians, insisting that such actions would be illegitimate. He also claimed that if the Turaki-led group proceeds to open a PDP account under the current circumstances, the leader would lose his Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) title.

In response, the National Publicity Secretary of the Interim National Working Committee, Ini Ememobong, dismissed Wike’s comments, insisting that the party’s primaries and national convention would go ahead as planned.

The Makinde-aligned bloc stated that it would have ignored Wike’s remarks but felt compelled to address Nigerians directly, framing its statement as an apology for previously supporting his rise to public office.

According to the statement, Wike’s outburst was described as a mix of political recklessness, moral failure, opportunism, and signs of frustration following electoral defeat.

It accused the FCT Minister of attacking respected individuals and making inflammatory statements, describing his remarks as “sound and fury, signifying nothing.”

The group added that it was not responding directly to Wike’s comments but viewed them as a “political swan song” and “last kicks of a dying horse,” while apologising to Nigerians for enabling his public profile in the past.

It also urged those allegedly defamed by Wike to seek legal redress, stressing that no individual is above the law.

Reaffirming its position, the Makinde-led faction insisted that it represents the legitimate leadership of the PDP and dismissed Wike’s influence within the party.

It further noted that the office of “National Leader” does not exist in the PDP constitution, expressing sympathy for Wike over what it described as his inability to attain such a position.

The statement concluded that no amount of threats would stop the party’s processes, insisting that truth would ultimately prevail despite attempts to distort facts or mislead the public.

Uwazuruike claims that this ongoing recruitment is directly responsible for the deaths of many young people.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

  • Call to Action: He urged Igbo leaders and the pan-Igbo organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, to travel to Sokoto to demand that Kanu cease his recruitment efforts.

  • Opposition to Violence: Uwazuruike emphasized his own aversion to violence and questioned how someone serving a life sentence for terrorism can continue to mobilize youths for such causes.

  • Advocacy for Amnesty: He questioned why IPOB members cannot renounce violence and seek government amnesty and rehabilitation, similar to the programs offered to repentant terrorists and bandits in northern Nigeria.

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has expressed deep sorrow and shock over the assassination of its Benue State Chairman, Ardo Risku, and is demanding that security agencies launch a comprehensive investigation to ensure the perpetrators face justice.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

  • Context of the Attack: MACBAN reported that Risku was killed shortly after attending a security meeting requested by Ohimini Local Government officials to discuss regional peace and stability.

  • The Incident: Approximately an hour after the meeting, Risku and an associate were intercepted and fatally shot in Okudu village.

  • Premeditation Concerns: The association views the killing as a “dastardly and deeply disturbing act” and highlighted that the timing, immediately following a peace-oriented security meeting, suggests the attack may have been premeditated.

  • Pattern of Violence: MACBAN noted that this incident follows a recent attack on the deceased’s son, a lawyer, in a village last week, further supporting the need for a thorough and transparent investigation.

  • Broader Impact: The association emphasized that targeting community leaders and peace advocates actively sabotages efforts toward dialogue and peaceful coexistence.

  • Commitment to Peace: Despite this tragedy, MACBAN reaffirmed its dedication to collaborating with government and security institutions to resolve national security concerns and offered condolences to the victim’s family and the Benue State chapter.
