Leadership Crisis Resolved As NDC Officially Names Mai Riga Kano Chairman.

Published

on

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has resolved the leadership dispute within its Kano State chapter and affirmed Hon. Husaini Isah Mai Riga as the legitimate chairman of the party in the state.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The disagreement reportedly began following the defection of former Kano State Governor and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, into the party. His entry sparked tension within the state structure, as some members challenged the existing leadership arrangement and pushed for changes.

Despite the controversy, Mai Riga maintained that he remained the duly recognised chairman, insisting he would only step aside through proper party procedures.

The rift escalated and eventually drew the attention of the party’s national leadership.

To resolve the crisis, a special reconciliation meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Senator Seriake Dickson, bringing together Kwankwaso, senior North West party leaders, and other key stakeholders.

At the end of the meeting, the party reaffirmed Mai Riga as the Kano State chairman. It was also agreed that Kwankwaso would be assigned a significant role within the state party structure, with leadership responsibilities shared among key stakeholders.

Following the resolution, Mai Riga expressed gratitude to the national leadership for intervening and restoring order.

He also tendered an apology to those affected by the dispute, describing the outcome as a collective decision of the party.

He further noted that the agreement included a power-sharing arrangement, granting Kwankwaso substantial influence within the state structure while he continues as chairman.
