According to reports, the incident occurred at the training ground two weeks ago, where Rudiger allegedly lost his temper and had to be separated from Carreras.

Carreras has since acknowledged that there was a disagreement but downplayed its seriousness, insisting the issue has already been resolved internally within the squad.

He said the situation was an isolated case and stressed that his relationship with all his teammates remains strong and unaffected.

The left-back, who returned to Real Madrid last summer from Benfica in a deal worth around €50 million, has recently been the subject of speculation regarding tensions in the dressing room.

Meanwhile, Spanish media reports suggest Rudiger has taken steps to mend relations, including organising a team dinner with players and their families last Friday.

The episode comes amid a challenging period for the club. Former coach Xabi Alonso reportedly left in January following internal unrest, while his successor Álvaro Arbeloa is expected to depart at the end of the season.

Off-field attention has also turned to Kylian Mbappé, who travelled to Sardinia while recovering from a hamstring injury sustained against Betis. Real Madrid went on to secure a 2-0 win over Espanyol during his absence.

Mbappé was later spotted on a yacht with actress Ester Expósito, drawing criticism ahead of Sunday’s El Clásico against Barcelona at Camp Nou, where Barcelona need just a point to clinch the league title.

According to a statement from the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, the enforcement followed reports that the facility was pumping untreated waste into drains, alongside wastewater spillages from a blocked sewage chamber. The situation reportedly caused a foul smell and environmental nuisance in the area.

The statement confirmed that the centre was sealed after investigations showed improper wastewater management practices that violated environmental regulations.

In a separate operation, officials also sealed Foodies Restaurant at No. 32B Admiralty Way, Lekki Phase 1, Eti-Osa, for releasing untreated wastewater into public drains.

Authorities said the restaurant’s waste contained heavy deposits of oil and fat, which blocked drainage channels, leading to pollution, offensive odour, and disruption of the environment, despite prior warnings.

The Lagos State Government reiterated its warning to residents and business operators to adhere strictly to approved wastewater disposal guidelines.

It added that any individual or organisation found violating environmental laws would face sanctions, including possible prosecution, in line with existing regulations.

The protest was led by activist Omoyele Sowore, with participants chanting “MTN Ole!” as they gathered at the company’s premises.

The protesters demanded immediate action, accusing the telecom operator of imposing excessive charges and delivering poor service quality.

One of the demonstrators complained that many Nigerians pay large sums for data but often do not receive the value of services promised, describing it as a widespread issue affecting subscribers across the country.

This development comes as the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) announced plans to stage picketing actions against South African companies MTN and MultiChoice over alleged xenophobic attacks in South Africa.
