Peter Obi Explodes: Why I Dumped ADC Like LP, Sends Fresh Demand To Tinubu Government.

Former presidential candidate and Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, has explained that the prevailing condition of Nigeria and the urgent need for national rescue informed his decision to move from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Obi, in a statement posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, said the decision was driven by deep reflection on Nigeria’s current challenges.

He stated that his exit from the ADC was for the same reason he earlier left the Labour Party, citing what he described as intense litigation battles and internal party crises that hinder meaningful participation in the political process.

Obi Appeals for Stronger Democracy

The former governor urged the Nigerian government to discourage unresolved legal disputes and internal destabilisation within political parties, warning that such practices weaken democratic institutions.

He said his move to the NDC alongside former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, was not a departure from their principles but a continuation of their shared mission for a better Nigeria.

According to him, the goal remains the pursuit of justice, competence, accountability, and compassion in leadership.

Concerns Over Nigeria’s Condition

Obi expressed concern over the worsening socio-economic situation in the country, including rising poverty, hunger, insecurity, and the collapse of businesses.

He noted that many Nigerians, especially young people, are losing hope due to economic hardship and uncertainty about the future.

He stressed that leadership must be rooted in service, integrity, and compassion rather than propaganda or personal ambition.

Call for Inclusive and Functional Democracy

He emphasised that democracy must not be used as a tool against the people, adding that opposition parties should remain strong to ensure balance in governance.

According to him, weakening political opposition undermines democratic choice and ultimately hurts citizens.

Obi said the emergence of the NDC is aimed at promoting credible leadership, functional institutions, and responsible management of public resources.

Commitment to National Unity

He reaffirmed his commitment to working with Nigerians across political, ethnic, and religious divides, describing the task of nation-building as one that goes beyond individual or party interests.

Obi also commended Nigerians, particularly youths and women, for their resilience in the face of national challenges, urging them not to lose hope in the country.

He maintained that meaningful change will only come through continued belief, sacrifice, and commitment to doing what is right.
