Gombe Gov, Inuwa Blocks Goje From Senate, Endorses Gwamna As APC’s Consensus Candidate.

The decision was announced during a stakeholders’ meeting, amid the ongoing political rivalry between Governor Inuwa and Senator Goje, which has persisted since the 2023 election cycle.
At the same meeting, the party also unveiled consensus candidates for various elective positions across the state.
According to the arrangement, Mohammed Ahmadu Deba was selected for Gombe Central Senatorial District, Jerry Damara for Gombe South, while Governor Inuwa Yahaya is expected to contest for the Gombe North Senate seat.
House of Reps Consensus List Released
For the House of Representatives, the endorsed candidates include Usman Bello Kumo for Akko, Inuwa Garba for Yamaltu/Deba, Ali Isa for Balanga/Billiri, Fatima Binta Bello for Kaltungo/Shongom, Saddam Bello for Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye, and Jamilu Shabewa for Dukku/Nafada.
Goje’s Political Position and Denial of Defection
Senator Goje, a four-term lawmaker seeking re-election, had recently joined a Senate delegation that met President Bola Tinubu, where they reportedly sought automatic tickets for serving lawmakers, a request that was said to have been rejected.
Meanwhile, Goje has dismissed rumours of defecting to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), following the circulation of a fake membership card on social media.
In a statement issued through his Special Assistant, Ahmed Isa Kashere, Goje described the viral card as fabricated and intended to damage his reputation.
He reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC, insisting that he remains a founding and committed member of the party, dedicated to promoting its ideals in Gombe State and across Nigeria.

Addressing the nation’s difficulties, Umahi remarked that while no leader desires instability, true leadership requires the courage to confront crises head-on. Calls for Resignation from Opposition Groups
Conversely, the Conference of United Political Parties (CUPP) has issued a demand for President Tinubu’s resignation, citing persistent economic hardship and national insecurity. Supported by the House of Representatives Minority Caucus, acting National Chairman Peter Ameh argued that the current administration has failed to produce the necessary results for good governance. The statement emphasized that leadership is a responsibility rather than a right, suggesting that the honorable path for an official who cannot alleviate citizens’ suffering is to step down.
The Ilamuren kingmakers of Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, have officially nominated five princes as candidates for the vacant Awujale throne. In his communication, the Olisa explained that the selection process was conducted in strict adherence to Section 4(2) of the Chiefs Law of 1957 and established customary laws. He noted that after convening multiple meetings, the council decided to put forward five qualified candidates rather than a single nominee, leaving the final selection to the state government. The nominees are Prince Ademorin Aliu Kuye, Prince Isiaq Ayodele Adewale Adekoya (Eleruja), Prince Onabanjo Abimbola John, Prince Oluwaseun Waheed Omopenu Onanuga, and Prince Olabode Onanuga.
Adesanya emphasized that the decision was made to ensure the continued prosperity and progress of Ijebuland, noting that the selected princes possess the experience and background necessary to serve the interests of the state and the nation.
