Chelsea teenager Jesse Derry was rushed to hospital for precautionary assessments after sustaining a head injury during Chelsea’s 3-1 Premier League defeat to Nottingham Forest on Monday night.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The 18-year-old forward, who was making his first Premier League start for the Blues, was injured just before half-time following an aerial collision inside the penalty area with Nottingham Forest defender Zach Abbott. Medical personnel quickly entered the pitch, administered oxygen, and later stretchered him off after a lengthy delay.

Chelsea later confirmed in an official statement that Derry is “conscious, talking and undergoing precautionary checks.”

Caretaker manager Callum McFarlane provided an update after the match, telling BBC Match of the Day that early indications were encouraging.

“All signs are positive at the moment so we’re hopeful he’s in a good condition and from what we’ve heard it’s positive,” he said. “Gutted for Jesse, I thought he did well in the game. He gave us a threat – a massive moment for him that has ended sadly.”

The game marked Derry’s first senior start for Chelsea after previously making two substitute appearances in the FA Cup earlier in the season.

Signed from Crystal Palace last summer, the winger has stood out at youth level with 12 goals in 29 academy appearances. He also represents England at Under-19 level and is the son of former Leeds United and Crystal Palace midfielder Shaun Derry.

Following the incident, Chelsea were awarded a penalty, but Cole Palmer failed to convert as Matz Sels made the save for Forest. Derry was eventually replaced by Liam Delap under concussion substitution protocols.
