ADC Crisis Explodes As Court Cancels State And LG Congresses.

The judgment came after a legal challenge by the party’s Adamawa State Chairman, Comrade Shehu Yohanna, who argued that the congresses were conducted in breach of both legal requirements and the party’s constitutional provisions. While delivering the verdict, Justice Isa Ahmed declared that the exercise contravened Section 84(4) of the Electoral Act and Article 18 of the ADC constitution. According to the judge, the defendants ignored established procedures and instead operated based on what he described as a self-created process. The court pointed out multiple irregularities surrounding the congresses, including inadequate notification of election timelines and the selection of an unsuitable venue. Justice Ahmed noted that these shortcomings seriously compromised the legitimacy and credibility of the entire exercise. As part of the ruling, the court also set aside all congresses conducted while an earlier interim court order was still in effect. He stressed that any action carried out in violation of a valid court directive holds no legal standing.
