ADC In Turmoil As Peter Obi, Kwankwaso Prepare Dramatic Switch To NDC.

Efforts by opposition leaders to present a single presidential candidate for the 2027 elections may be facing fresh uncertainty following reports that Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso are preparing to leave the African Democratic Congress (ADC).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Sources revealed that both politicians are reportedly concluding plans to move to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Insiders within the opposition coalition said the planned defection is largely linked to concerns over the increasing influence of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar within the ADC, which had been widely considered the coalition’s preferred platform.

According to sources, Atiku is believed to hold a strategic advantage in securing the ADC’s presidential ticket ahead of Obi, Kwankwaso, and other aspirants.

The latest development comes just days after opposition figures, at a summit in Ibadan, Oyo State, agreed to work towards producing a unified presidential candidate for 2027.

That commitment formed part of the resolutions contained in the communiqué known as the “Ibadan Declaration,” where opposition leaders said their alliance was aimed at rescuing Nigeria and addressing the hardship facing citizens.

The Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Buba Galadima, disclosed that Obi and Kwankwaso are expected to unveil a new political platform soon, with an official announcement possibly coming on Monday.

Sources familiar with the negotiations said talks with leaders of the NDC, including Senator Seriake Dickson, have reached an advanced stage.

According to insiders, the move is intended to prevent a repeat of the internal political tensions currently being experienced within the ADC.

A source close to the discussions said Obi, Kwankwaso, and their loyalists had been meeting with NDC leaders to finalise documentation and strategic arrangements.

The source further alleged that Atiku and his allies may have used the ADC primarily to advance his own presidential ambition, prompting concerns among other coalition members.

Galadima also warned supporters to prepare for what he described as coordinated political and media attacks once the new platform is officially announced, including criticism from columnists and social media influencers.

He urged supporters, particularly those active in media spaces, to be ready to strongly defend their preferred candidates against any smear campaigns.

Meanwhile, businessman Isaac Fayose, brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, backed the proposed Obi-Kwankwaso alliance, describing it as a credible political alternative.

Fayose expressed confidence in the alliance’s electoral strength, claiming it already enjoys strong support across a majority of states.

However, political analyst Adebayo Abubakar warned that continued fragmentation, mistrust, and personal ambition within the opposition camp could significantly weaken its chances of defeating the ruling party in 2027.

According to him, rather than consolidating into a united force, the ongoing political realignments suggest deeper divisions that may ultimately undermine the opposition’s broader objective.
