Supreme Court Verdict Triggers Possible Exodus of ADC Leaders To NDC.
More leaders within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) are reportedly considering a shift to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) following the Supreme Court’s ruling on the party’s leadership dispute.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The Supreme Court had sent the substantive matter back to the Federal High Court for continuation, a development that some party stakeholders say has deepened uncertainty within the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
An ADC chieftain who spoke with Punch described the judgment as far from conclusive, warning that the ongoing case at the Federal High Court could still shape the party’s future direction.
He said, “There is nothing much to celebrate in the verdict. It is like postponing the evil day. The substantive matter is at the Federal High Court, and we have many bridges to cross on that.
“If, as expected, the Tinubu administration manipulates the judiciary against us, that will be too late for us, and it may hand Tinubu a cheap victory.”
The source further disclosed that several coalition figures, including members of the Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, are unwilling to abandon efforts to secure a more stable political platform.
According to him, the NDC is now being evaluated as a potential alternative ahead of the 2027 elections.
He said, “That’s why, after reviewing the Supreme Court judgment, many of our leaders in the coalition, including the Turaki-led PDP, said we shouldn’t abandon the search for a safer platform.
“We need to beat Tinubu at his game. We are considering NDC and hope to finalise discussions on that in a few days.”
The ADC chieftain also alleged that there were plans within the Presidency to instigate internal crises within the NDC, similar to what he claimed had happened in other opposition parties.
He said, “However, we are also aware of the President’s move to sponsor crises in the NDC, as they have been doing in every opposition party.
“The Peoples Redemption Party had indicated interest in working with us and, after a day, the government brought a faction from the party. They are planning to do that in NDC as well, but we shall overcome.”
