Meanwhile, former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has criticised the Tinubu administration over what he described as rising public debt and increasing government borrowing.

In a statement released on Thursday, Obi said countries must avoid reckless borrowing without a clear and productive repayment plan.

He argued that many of the loans being taken by the current administration do not meet legal requirements or basic economic logic.

reports that Obi’s comments come in response to President Tinubu’s recent remark that debt is not a “leprosy.”

However, Obi disagreed, insisting that borrowing could become dangerous if mismanaged, describing it as something that can turn into a “leprosy” or even a “deadly cancer” when not properly directed.

He further expressed concern that Nigeria’s borrowing pattern appears to be focused more on consumption than on productive investment.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain urged the Tinubu administration to ensure that borrowed funds are effectively utilised for the benefit of Nigerians, rather than being justified without tangible impact on development.

Gbajabiamila Probe Heat: Showunmi Demands Patience, Says No Conviction Before Investigation Ends!.

Segun Showunmi, a PDP chieftain in Ogun State and Convener of The Alternative Movement, has called on Nigerians to avoid pre-judging Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila regarding allegations tied to the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). Showunmi emphasized that these claims require formal investigation and judicial review rather than trial by public opinion.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

  • Adeniyi Adeyemi alleged that he was named Director-General of the PFIPC through a letter he claimed was issued by Gbajabiamila.

  • Gbajabiamila has officially denied these claims and has instructed his legal team to pursue a ₦10 billion defamation lawsuit against Adeyemi.

  • In addition to the lawsuit, the Chief of Staff has demanded a public apology, a formal retraction of the allegations in five national newspapers, and the deletion of the claims from all online platforms.

Showunmi’s Call for Due Process

  • Showunmi argued that public discourse often suffers from a troubling tendency to assume guilt before the justice system has finished its work.

  • He stressed that allegations must be handled by proper institutions and that disputes should be resolved in court where evidence can prevail over rumor.

  • The PDP chieftain warned against the culture of condemning public officials without established facts, noting that not all accusations, narratives, or criticisms are necessarily factual or patriotic.

  • While Showunmi agrees that Gbajabiamila’s extensive public service record—including his time as Speaker of the House of Representatives and his current role—should be subject to rigorous scrutiny, he maintains that such assessments must remain evidence-based and fair.

  • He concluded by noting that those who advocate for due process are protecting the foundation of a civilized society, rather than defending potential wrongdoing.

Retaliation Unleashed! Trump Declares Iran Will Face 1,000 Missiles For Any Attempt On His Life!.

Published

on

President Donald Trump has issued a severe warning to Iran, declaring that the U.S. military is prepared to launch a devastating retaliatory strike should Iran attempt to assassinate him.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated that 1,000 missiles are “locked and loaded” and aimed at Iran, with thousands more prepared to follow if the Iranian government acts on threats to assassinate him.

Trump further claimed that orders have been issued and the U.S. military is ready to “completely decimate and destroy” all areas of Iran, a status intended to last for one year, subject to extension.

These comments follow Trump’s assertion that the ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran is “OVER,” despite his agreement to continue diplomatic talks with Tehran.

During the recent NATO summit, Trump expressed frustration with the diplomatic process, characterizing continued engagement with Iran as a “waste of time”.

Iranian Response and Diplomatic Status
Iran has rejected Trump’s allegations, asserting that it has remained fully committed to the memorandum of understanding (MoU) while accusing the United States of multiple violations.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi specifically accused the U.S. of violating “Paragraph Nine” of the MoU, which prohibits new sanctions and additional military deployments while Iran maintains its current nuclear programme status.

Despite the heightened rhetoric, diplomatic efforts persist; a Qatari delegation has arrived in Tehran to mediate following a recent exchange of strikes between the two nations.

While direct negotiations have been absent since last month, indirect talks continue to be facilitated by mediators, though no significant breakthroughs have been achieved to date.
