learnt that the meeting took place at the Governor’s Office in the Secretariat, Ibadan, less than 72 hours after a major opposition gathering held in the state capital.

The summit had drawn prominent political actors and stakeholders from across the country as discussions intensify around building a coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Although the agenda of the meeting was not officially disclosed, a source familiar with the development told Vanguard that it formed part of wider consultations among opposition leaders.

The source said both politicians were involved in “strategic political consultations” aimed at strengthening unity within the opposition and exploring possible alliances.

The meeting also followed Obi’s recent engagement with former President Goodluck Jonathan.

After that earlier meeting, Obi explained that his consultations were tied to preparations for the 2027 elections, which he described as important for Nigeria’s future direction.

He said discussions centred on efforts to reposition the country and encourage broader collaboration among leaders to drive national progress.

Obi added that the 2027 elections should be seen not just as another political contest, but as a key opportunity to reset and rebuild Nigeria.
