Ekiti 2026: APC Governors, Uzodinma Back Oyebanji for Second Term.

The delegation featured Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and Ondo State Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.

Former Ekiti governors Ayodele Fayose, Segun Oni, Niyi Adebayo, and Kayode Fayemi also attended the event.

Prior to the campaign rally, the governors paid a courtesy visit to the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adeyemo Adejugbe Aladesanmi III, where they received royal blessings and reaffirmed their commitment to a peaceful electoral process.

Speaking on behalf of the APC Governors’ Forum, Uzodinma described the gathering as a demonstration of unity and confidence in Governor Oyebanji’s leadership.

He said the visit was intended to show solidarity, encourage the people, and reaffirm support for an administration credited with promoting unity and development.

Uzodinma added that the party would emphasize continuity and its governance achievements throughout the campaign.

According to him, supporting the APC candidate represents backing continuity, shared vision, and progress, while expressing confidence in victory through popular support.

Governor Oyebanji, in his remarks, urged residents to base their decisions on performance rather than sentiment.

He stated that the election should be focused on tangible results, highlighting progress in infrastructure, security, and economic management.

He also aligned his administration’s policies with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s broader national agenda.

Other governors present encouraged political actors to avoid divisive language and focus on issue-based campaigns.

They stressed the need for a credible electoral process centered on development and the welfare of citizens.

The rally, attended by party leaders, traditional rulers, and supporters, officially marked the beginning of the Ekiti 2026 governorship race and set the tone for what is expected to be a keenly contested election.
