The initiative formed part of events marking the 2026 World Malaria Day, themed “Driven to end malaria: Now we can. Now we must.”

The outreach focused on increasing awareness and improving access to basic healthcare, with residents benefiting from free malaria testing, treatment services, antimalarial drugs, insecticide-treated mosquito nets, and educational materials aimed at encouraging long-term prevention.

Residents were also sensitised on the causes, symptoms, prevention, and early treatment of malaria, alongside practical guidance on environmental sanitation, proper use of treated nets, and the importance of seeking prompt medical care.

As part of the programme, Ikeja Electric staff engaged community members in health education sessions across the benefiting areas.

‘Beyond Electricity Supply’

Speaking in a statement, the Head of Corporate Communications, Ikeja Electric Plc, Kingsley Okotie, said the company’s responsibilities go beyond electricity distribution.

“At Ikeja Electric, we recognize that our responsibility goes beyond providing electricity. We are committed to supporting the well-being of our customers through initiatives that promote healthier communities,” he said.

He added that the World Malaria Day outreach reflects the company’s commitment to equipping residents with the knowledge and resources needed to prevent and manage malaria effectively.

Okotie also emphasised the importance of sustained awareness and collaboration in reducing malaria cases, noting that the company will continue working with stakeholders to improve health outcomes.

The company further advised residents to stay safety-conscious during the rainy season due to increased electrical risks, urging them to avoid exposed wires, flooded installations, and damaged infrastructure, while ensuring proper household electrical safety.

Customers were encouraged to report safety concerns through Ikeja Electric’s emergency channels.

Reaffirming its broader mission, Okotie said the company remains committed to delivering value through reliable power supply, stakeholder engagement, and impactful CSR initiatives aimed at improving quality of life.

Ikeja Electric Plc, Nigeria’s largest electricity distribution company, says it remains focused on providing dependable service while promoting safety and community development.

For customer support and emergency reporting, the company provided its contact channels, including phone lines, whistleblowing contacts, email addresses, web portal, and social media platforms for real-time updates.

2027 Elections: NNPP Schedules May 26 Primaries For All Elective Positions.

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has scheduled May 26 for its primaries across all elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The positions to be contested include the House of Assembly, governorship seats, National Assembly, and the presidency.

In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ladipo Johnson, said the NNPP would adopt a consensus approach for selecting candidates in all wards nationwide.

He noted that the date for the primaries has already been communicated to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Johnson also revealed that INEC had successfully completed a verification exercise of the party’s administrative and operational structures at its national secretariat in Abuja on April 23.

According to him, the smooth conduct of the exercise confirms the legitimacy of the National Working Committee (NWC) led by Hon. Bala Mohammed.

He added that this development dismisses claims by expelled members and reinforces the NWC as the party’s recognised leadership.

Johnson further rejected challenges to the committee’s authority by expelled members, describing their reliance on court rulings as futile.

He pointed out that an existing judgment by the Federal High Court in Abuja had already affirmed that the individuals are no longer members of the NNPP.

He accused them of withholding key facts from courts to mislead the judiciary in ongoing legal disputes.

Describing the actions of the dissenting members as deceptive attempts to revive a failed political agenda, Johnson expressed confidence that the Supreme Court would ultimately settle the leadership dispute in favour of the current NWC.

He also encouraged Nigerians, especially young people and professionals, to take part in the party’s ongoing membership registration across its 8,809 wards and 774 local government areas nationwide.

His withdrawal comes shortly after Governor Abdullahi Sule endorsed Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada as his preferred successor.

Speaking to journalists, Shuaib said his decision followed wide consultations with supporters and stakeholders across the state, adding that it was based on integrity and his promise to stand by his word.
