News reports that in the video, the aide was heard telling the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, that he would hand over any member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) found in the state to security operatives.

He also described former presidential candidate Peter Obi as a “stupid man.”

The video further showed the police commissioner smiling during the exchange, a reaction that sparked public criticism and questions about the appropriateness of his response.

In reaction to the backlash, the Police Public Relations Officer in Edo State, ASP Eno Ikoedem, issued a statement on Saturday clarifying that the Commissioner of Police did not endorse or support the comments made in the video.

The statement also noted that the remarks are being reviewed for possible security implications beyond what may appear as entertainment or jest.

According to the Command, the comments were made by an individual identified as a comedian, Emmanuel Eghogho, and do not reflect the position of the police.

It stressed that CP Monday Agbonika remains a professional, non-partisan officer committed to the constitutional duties of the Nigeria Police Force.

The Command also reiterated its earlier warning urging political parties and their supporters to conduct their activities peacefully and within the bounds of the law.

It cautioned that any act of violence, incitement, or conduct capable of disturbing public peace would not be tolerated and would attract strict legal consequences.

The Edo Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order and protecting democratic processes in the state.

Former Senate Leader, Ali Ndume, has commended President Bola Tinubu for approving ₦68 billion as operational support for the Maiduguri Emergency Power Plant (MEPP), saying the intervention will help improve security in Borno State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Ndume, who represents Borno South, said in a statement on Tuesday that the decision reflects the federal government’s responsiveness to the long-standing complaints of residents affected by persistent electricity shortages.

He argued that restoring stable electricity would also help disrupt what he described as the recruitment pipeline for terrorists by improving economic activity and reducing idle youth involvement in crime.

According to him, reliable power supply would strengthen the informal sector and boost small and medium-scale enterprises, while also supporting military efforts against insurgency, which he said thrives in darkness and poor visibility.

Ndume stated that he joined Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum and other stakeholders in appreciating President Tinubu for what he described as a timely and impactful intervention.

He said the funding for the Maiduguri Emergency Power Plant would serve as a lifeline for economic recovery in the state.

“The fund released to the Maiduguri Emergency Power Plant is a lifeline that would ultimately engender economic activities, particularly operations of medium and small-scale enterprises (SMEs),” he said.

He added that improved economic conditions would help reduce vulnerability to terrorist recruitment.

Ndume also urged government agencies, security forces, and residents to protect power infrastructure from vandalism or attacks by insurgents.

He called for greater vigilance, stressing that citizens must support security agencies in safeguarding critical facilities.

He further noted that stable electricity would not only boost livelihoods but also contribute to long-term efforts to improve security in the region.
