In a statement shared on his official X account, Netanyahu explained that the disclosure was deliberately delayed due to ongoing geopolitical tensions, saying he did not want the information to be used for propaganda amid the conflict involving Israel.

He noted that his annual medical report had just been released and that he had requested postponement of its publication to avoid it coinciding with the height of the war or being misinterpreted.

Reassuring the public, the Prime Minister said the condition was detected early and fully treated.

“I am healthy and in excellent physical condition. I had a minor issue with my prostate, which has been completely treated. It is now behind me,” he said.

Netanyahu explained that the diagnosis followed routine medical monitoring after a previous procedure for an enlarged prostate about a year and a half ago. He said doctors later identified a small abnormal growth measuring less than one centimetre, which further tests confirmed as an early-stage malignant tumour that had not spread.

According to him, medical specialists presented several treatment options, including monitoring, as such cases are relatively common among men his age.

However, he said he chose immediate treatment, stressing his preference for swift action when dealing with health or national matters.

“When I am faced with a potential risk, I prefer to deal with it immediately, both in personal matters and national issues. I chose treatment, and the problem has been removed completely,” he stated.

The announcement has drawn attention to the importance of early detection and regular screening for prostate cancer, particularly among older men, with health experts consistently noting that early diagnosis improves survival and treatment outcomes.

Netanyahu has undergone medical procedures in the past, including a hernia surgery in March 2024, from which he recovered without complications.

The latest disclosure is seen as an effort to reassure both domestic and international audiences of his continued ability to lead during a sensitive period.
