In the footage, the aide is heard speaking to the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, stating that he would hand over any member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) found in the state to the police.

He also reportedly insulted former presidential candidate Peter Obi, referring to him in derogatory terms during the exchange.

The video shows the police commissioner smiling while the remarks were made, a reaction that has drawn criticism from observers who questioned the appropriateness of his response.

The aide, who has previously faced allegations of issuing threats related to Peter Obi’s safety in the state, later walked away after making the comments in the commissioner’s presence.

Meanwhile, the African Democratic Congress (African Democratic Congress) in Edo State is also experiencing internal leadership disputes following the announcement of a new state executive led by Tony Alike.

Alike was declared chairman alongside 23 other executive members, despite conflicting claims over the party’s leadership structure in the state.

The announcement was made by National Collation Chairman Sem Andrew Uchendu from the party secretariat.

However, the development came just a day after another party figure, Rowland Owie, announced Nosa Ehima as the new state chairman, deepening the confusion within the party.

The current chairman, Kennedy Odion, also stated that he was unaware of any congress being held to validate the leadership changes.

Uchendu, who supervised the congresses across various levels, said the process lasted three days and involved consultations at unit, ward, local government, and state levels.

He added that party stakeholders, including former APC national chairman John Odigie-Oyegun, agreed on a consensus arrangement for the emergence of the new leadership.

The newly elected chairman, Tony Alike, said his priority would be to unify aggrieved members and reposition the party ahead of future elections.

He also noted plans to mobilize Nigerians for political change, promising a policy direction in the coming days aimed at strengthening the opposition’s role ahead of the general elections.

During a recent visit to Washington, D.C., Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), argued that the prevalence of election rigging in Nigeria is largely due to voters failing to actively defend their ballots. Obi emphasized that while candidates play a role in the process, credible outcomes ultimately depend on citizens remaining at their polling units to ensure votes are counted transparently. He criticized the “transactional” nature of Nigerian politics, suggesting that many voters prioritize other activities over the essential task of monitoring the electoral process. According to Obi, Nigeria’s primary challenge is poor political leadership, and he urged citizens to take collective ownership of their votes to demand the accountable governance required for the country to succeed.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has called for increased citizen involvement in protecting electoral integrity. During a recent trip to Washington, D.C., Obi stated that election manipulation persists because voters frequently leave polling stations before the counting process is completed. He argued that:

  • Voters must proactively defend their ballots at polling units to ensure transparency and prevent rigging.

  • Nigeria’s fundamental obstacle is a crisis of political leadership, rather than a lack of natural or human resources.

  • Real change requires Nigerians to move beyond passive participation and take active responsibility for the electoral process.

  • Call for Unity: The Minister urged Nigerians to prioritize national interest over partisan politics, noting that insecurity is not a tool for scoring political points.
