Oyo State witnessed a wave of political tension last week following allegations of impeachment plots, massive financial inducements, and growing divisions within the ruling party, raising concerns about stability across the executive, legislature, and traditional institution in Ibadan.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Those linked to the unfolding situation include Governor Seyi Makinde, Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Ladoja, and former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose.

The crisis reportedly began during a PDP caucus meeting at the State House of Assembly, which escalated into a heated confrontation, exposing internal disagreements among lawmakers.

Sources described the atmosphere as tense, with divisions over alleged moves to remove the Speaker, as some lawmakers resisted the plan while others were said to support a leadership change.

Tensions deepened further with claims of a ₦1 billion inducement plot allegedly tied to efforts to impeach Governor Makinde. However, former First Lady Florence Ajimobi dismissed the allegation, describing it as false and politically motivated.

In a dramatic development, Speaker Ogundoyin confirmed he was approached with an offer linked to the alleged plot but said he rejected it, insisting his loyalty to the governor and the PDP remains intact.

Insiders suggested the situation may be connected to political rivalries and attempts to weaken Ogundoyin’s rising influence, especially amid speculations about his governorship ambition.

As tensions grew, Governor Makinde reportedly intervened by holding a meeting with lawmakers, which helped calm the situation and halt any impeachment moves.

Meanwhile, Ayo Fayose alleged that the governor was planning to remove the Olubadan, a claim the monarch, Rashidi Ladoja, dismissed as unverified.

Ogundoyin also clarified that his visit to the Olubadan was simply to inform him of his political ambition and seek blessings, not linked to any crisis.

Despite the controversy, stakeholders have expressed hope that the situation will be resolved through dialogue and internal reconciliation.

FCT Teachers Begin Indefinite Strike Over Demands.

Published

The State Wing Executive Council of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has ordered all public primary and secondary school teachers in Abuja to commence an indefinite strike from Monday.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The union also directed parents and guardians to keep their children at home until further notice, citing unresolved welfare concerns and what it described as government inaction.

This followed a communiqué issued after an emergency SWEC meeting held in Gwagwalada, Abuja, over the weekend and signed by the state leadership of the union.

Teachers were instructed to fully comply with the strike directive and await further instructions from the union leadership, as the industrial action remains in force until their demands are addressed.

According to the communiqué, the strike became necessary after the expiration of a seven-day ultimatum earlier issued to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, which elapsed without a satisfactory response.

The union recalled that although previous interventions led to the suspension of an earlier strike, several key issues affecting teachers’ welfare were still unresolved.

It also expressed concern that a committee set up to address outstanding entitlements submitted its report in August 2025, but the findings have not been made public or implemented.

While acknowledging the payment of the new minimum wage and some salary arrears, the union insisted that major concerns remain unattended.

The NUT further demanded reforms in promotion processes and a review of the 2024 promotion exercise.

After what it described as unsuccessful engagements and expired deadlines, the union declared that all teachers in the FCT will remain on strike indefinitely until their demands are met.
