Court Warns Health Minister, Another Over Alleged Disobedience Of Judgment.

The National Industrial Court in Abuja has cautioned the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Salako, and another official against disobeying its earlier ruling that nullified the removal of Prof. Monday Igwe as Medical Director of the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Enugu.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Also named in the notice is Dr. Unaogu Ngozichukwu Nneka, who was appointed as Medical Director after Igwe’s removal.

In a “notice of consequences of disobedience to court order” issued on April 14, 2026, the court stated it had been informed that Nneka is still occupying the position, while Prof. Igwe has yet to be reinstated, despite the subsisting judgment.

The court warned that failure to comply with its December 11, 2025 ruling—which voided Igwe’s dismissal, nullified Nneka’s appointment, and ordered Igwe’s reinstatement with payment of salary arrears—could amount to contempt and may lead to imprisonment.

The notice further highlighted that the court’s directive remains valid and has not been stayed, making continued non-compliance a serious legal issue.

Justice Emmanuel Subilim had earlier ruled that Igwe’s removal was unlawful, describing the process as arbitrary and a violation of statutory provisions guiding his appointment.

The judge also set aside Nneka’s appointment, noting that it was made while the case was still pending and therefore invalid.

He ordered that Prof. Igwe be reinstated to complete the remaining three years and five months of his tenure.

The suit lists several defendants, including the Coordinating Minister of Health, the Minister of State for Health, the Attorney General of the Federation, the Permanent Secretary of the Health Ministry, the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Enugu, and Dr. Nneka.

Speaking at a political gathering in Ewohimi, Esan South East Local Government Area, he said the move was necessary to strengthen cohesion within the party amid its rising profile.

“We are aware of concerns arising from my emergence as chairman, but I assure members that the party has activated its internal conflict resolution framework to address all issues amicably,” he said.

He added that the party remains focused on unity, inclusiveness, and building a strong platform capable of winning elections and delivering good governance.

Alile also noted that the growing influx of members reflects public dissatisfaction with existing political structures, insisting that ADC is positioning itself as a credible alternative.

Other speakers at the event described recent defections into the party as evidence of shifting political sentiments, saying the ADC is gaining support due to growing calls for better governance and development.
