The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed claims that former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, can deliver Rivers State to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2027 elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking to journalists on Friday, Wike recalled Amaechi’s past electoral records in Rivers State, saying he failed to secure victory in the state during his time in the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He pointed to the 2015 and 2019 elections, noting that even when Amaechi served as Director-General of the late President Muhammadu Buhari’s campaign, the APC still struggled in Rivers State.

Wike said despite what he described as strong federal backing at the time, he still won the governorship elections, insisting that Rivers voters are not easily swayed by political influence from Abuja.

According to him, “If elections are held in Rivers today, how can Amaechi deliver the state to ADC? He was governor, and I defeated him. He was also DG of Buhari’s campaign, yet Buhari never got 25 percent in Rivers in 2015 or 2019.”

He added that political success depends on grassroots strength rather than prominent figures, urging opposition parties to focus on building structures instead of relying on individuals.

Wike also questioned the ADC’s strength in other states, pointing to former Senate President David Mark, saying he would struggle to deliver Benue State to the party in 2027.

He warned against dragging the state into fresh tension, accusing the state government of attempting to revive old allegations for political advantage.

Adewara said the PDP would not remain silent while what he called “political narratives” are used to influence public perception around a tragic incident that claimed multiple lives in Offa in 2018.

He also urged residents, especially affected families, not to allow their pain to be used for political gains, insisting it is unjust to associate Saraki with the crime.
