The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has responded to concerns over a viral video showing an incident involving one of its patrol teams in the Central Business District (CBD) of Abuja.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement issued by Deputy Corps Commander and Corps Public Education Officer, Osondu Ohaeri, the agency said the circulating version of events was misleading.

According to the FRSC, the incident occurred on Thursday, April 16, 2026, during a routine traffic enforcement operation by its CBD Unit Command.

It explained that a vehicle was stopped for violations including overloading and failure to use seatbelts, and that standard enforcement procedures were being followed.

The Corps said the situation escalated when the driver allegedly became uncooperative, leading to rising tension and a crowd gathering at the scene.

FRSC insisted that no officer assaulted or threatened any occupant of the vehicle, adding that the individual seen with an iron rod in the video was not connected to the Corps or the driver.

It added that its personnel exercised restraint and professionalism, choosing to de-escalate the situation in order to prevent further disorder.

The agency stressed that the decision to withdraw was a safety measure and should not be mistaken for weakness, but rather responsible crowd control.

FRSC reaffirmed its commitment to road safety, professionalism, and respect for human rights, urging the public to disregard misleading narratives and continue to cooperate with law enforcement officers.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.

The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.

Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.

He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.

Woli Agba disclosed this in a public notice shared on his Instagram page on Sunday.

In the notice issued by their solicitors, Gemgold, the comedians warned members of the public against publishing or circulating allegations they described as false and defamatory against them.
