Adeleke: “We’ve Been Using State Project Funds To Pay Local Government Workers”.

Published

on

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has attributed delays in executing key infrastructure projects to the alleged withholding of about ₦300 billion in local government funds.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking on Thursday during an inspection of ongoing projects across the state, Adeleke said the funds, which he claimed were meant for local government administration, were “hijacked” by the Osun All Progressives Congress (APC) without regard for the welfare of workers.

He explained that his administration was forced to step in to sustain payments for local government workers, teachers, health workers, and pensioners for over a year due to the situation.

Adeleke alleged that despite court rulings affecting APC council chairmen, the party continued to divert funds meant for grassroots development.

He said the state government had no choice but to use resources meant for state projects to support the local workforce in order to prevent the collapse of basic services.

According to him, “If we had refused to financially sustain the local workforce, local health and education services would have collapsed. We have been using money meant for state projects to keep them going. Nearly ₦300 billion belonging to local governments has been trapped.”

The governor warned that failure to intervene would have worsened hardship at the grassroots level.

During the inspection, Adeleke reviewed ongoing projects including the Ile-Ife flyover and road dualisation, Lameco flyover in Osogbo, Ila Orangun township roads, Osogbo–Ofatedo–Awo Junction dualisation, and Iwo township road projects.

He expressed satisfaction with the pace of work in some areas, especially Ile-Ife, Iwo, and Ila Orangun, while urging contractors to speed up delivery across all projects.

Adeleke also reassured residents that his administration remains committed to completing ongoing projects and improving infrastructure across Osun State.

According to the source, the twins maintained a daily routine of speaking around midnight, but the conversation took a sudden turn that night when unusual activity was noticed at the General’s end.

He said the line went dead abruptly after the General paused during the call, apparently due to the unfolding situation at the base.

The twin brother reportedly made repeated attempts to reconnect, sending messages and calling continuously, but received no response throughout the night.

“He kept trying until about 4 am, but there was no answer,” the source said.

The family later confirmed the tragedy after a senior military officer contacted them around 6:30 am, informing them that the base had come under attack and that the Brigade Commander was among those killed.

The relative described the incident as devastating, noting that communication had broken down during the assault.

The late General was later buried alongside other fallen soldiers in Maiduguri, Borno State.

He wrote, “Chiemeka Chibuzor’s wedding is hereby suspended. More than a thousand applications. No more wedding pending further directive from me.”

He also said the couple would enjoy lifelong support, including shared property ownership and periodic welfare checks from church members.
