The Nigeria Police Force says it has recorded major breakthroughs in cybercrime investigations through its National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC), as it continues efforts to curb financial fraud and protect the country’s digital economy.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to a statement by Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the operations highlight the Police’s commitment to fighting financial crimes and safeguarding both local and foreign investments.

In one of the operations, the NPF-NCCC dismantled a cross-border fraud syndicate based on intelligence from the East Africa Sub-Sahara Africa Safe Promotion Foundation (EA-SSASPF) in Kenya.

The suspect, identified as Agbor Martins Black-Diamond, also known as Oruojong Black Diamond, allegedly posed as a World Bank official and other foreign donor representatives.

Investigations revealed that victims were tricked into paying about $250,000 over three years as registration and administrative fees for non-existent donor funding.

The Police said no funding was ever delivered, while the suspect reportedly organised fake symposiums in Nigeria and South Africa to sustain the scam.

Further findings showed he later pressured victims into securing loans using family property to access a fictitious $850,000 empowerment fund in Ghana.

He was arrested on March 31, 2026, and his organisation, Black Diamond African Beauty Restoration Foundation, was found unregistered in Nigeria before he later attempted to legitimize it under a new name.

The Police also linked him to additional fraud targeting local farmers in Kuje Area Council, where victims were allegedly collected ₦50,000 each under false empowerment claims.

In another case, the NPF-NCCC arrested a former employee accused of cyber-related fraud, including unauthorised system modifications and diversion of company funds.

A separate investigation also led to the arrest of two suspects for alleged conspiracy, cybercrime, and money laundering, involving the diversion of ₦85 million from a company between May and December 2025.

Police said part of the stolen funds was used for online gambling, while several assets, including vehicles, electronics, and cash, were recovered from the suspects.

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, reaffirmed that Nigeria will not serve as a safe haven for cybercriminals, adding that the Force will continue to pursue offenders regardless of location or status.

He assured that ongoing investigations will lead to the prosecution of all individuals involved in the cases.

APC Fires Back at Adeleke Over ₦300bn LG Funds Allegation, Blames Governor for Salary Crisis....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded to claims by Governor Ademola Adeleke that local government officials under the party diverted about ₦300 billion meant for workers’ salaries.

Adeleke had made the allegation during a stakeholders’ meeting, accusing APC-controlled council officials of hijacking funds and forcing the state government to shoulder salary payments for local government workers, teachers, health staff, and pensioners for over a year.

He insisted he would not abandon workers, blaming the situation for delays in executing some state projects.

But in a statement, APC’s Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, dismissed the claims, accusing the governor of misleading the public and shifting blame.

The party alleged that Adeleke was responsible for the salary issues, claiming he refused to release electronic payment vouchers and other financial documents needed for processing payments.

APC also said pension-related records, leave bonuses, cooperative deductions, and other financial data had not been made available despite repeated appeals, insisting that funds were properly accounted for and available for use if approved.

The party urged pensioners and workers to seek clarification, insisting the situation could be resolved if the governor allowed due process to take place.
