“‘Indian Hemp At Work’ — Babachir Lawal Mocks ADC Faction Over His, Atiku Abubakar’s Suspension”

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has dismissed claims that he, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and other leaders were suspended by a faction of the African Democratic Congress in Adamawa State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Lawal, who serves as the party’s North-East vice chairman, described the suspension announcement as baseless and urged party members to ignore it.

The controversy followed a press conference by Raji Zumo, who claimed to be acting on behalf of a faction of the party in Adamawa and announced the suspension of Atiku, Lawal and the ADC transition committee chairman, Sadiq Ibrahim.

Reacting to the development, Lawal mocked the move, questioning the legitimacy of those behind it and suggesting their actions were irrational.

He also challenged Zumo’s authority to speak for the party in Adamawa, insisting that the faction lacked any legal standing.

In a separate reaction, the Adamawa State ADC chairman, Shehu Yohanna, also rejected the suspension, describing it as null and void. He maintained that Zumo was no longer a recognised member of the party.

Yohanna said Zumo, who previously served as his deputy, had long disappeared from the party’s activities before resurfacing on social media with the suspension announcement.

Meanwhile, an Adamawa State High Court sitting in Yola has halted the party’s planned congresses in the state.

Justice Ahmed Isa of High Court No. 6 ordered the suspension of the exercise pending the hearing of a suit filed before the court. The matter was adjourned to April 15, 2026.

The suit was filed by Yohanna, who accused the ADC transition committee chairman in the state, Sadiq Dasin, of excluding him from arrangements for the congresses.

Speaking on the court order, Lawal said he was not aware of the proceedings, noting that he was in Abuja at the time.

Political Earthquake: APC Rejects Review Of Primary Results, Leaving Aggrieved Aspirants In The Cold.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially closed the door on any potential review of its 2027 primary election results, despite ongoing protests and petitions from dissatisfied aspirants.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Party leadership has confirmed that work on the submitted results is complete, and the final list of candidates is being prepared for upload to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal. A senior official and member of the National Working Committee (NWC), speaking on the condition of anonymity, stated that no changes to the results are being considered, noting that the official timeline for primaries and appeals has already elapsed.

Response to Petitions

While many aggrieved aspirants—particularly from states like Lagos, Delta, Zamfara, Kogi, Rivers, Plateau, and Osun—have demanded fresh primaries, the party maintains that most of these complaints are without merit.

  • Frivolous Claims: According to party officials, reports from the election appeal panels found that many petitions were “frivolous” or centered on issues outside the scope of the primary process, such as pre-primary zoning disputes or candidate clearance concerns.

  • Limited Impact: The party noted that the vast majority of the 109 senatorial districts and 360 House of Representatives constituencies did not record any appeals, and valid appeals did not significantly alter the primary outcomes.

Impact on Candidates

The primaries, held between May 16 and 18, saw at least 54 serving federal lawmakers lose their bids for return tickets. As the party awaits the release of INEC access codes for its nomination portal, the leadership remains firm that the announced results are final and that no further review will be conducted.
