Tinubu Repositioning Kano Economy Despite Opposition Attacks — Yilwatda.

Published

on

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has stated that while opposition parties focus on criticisms and attacks against the government, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is implementing a coordinated economic plan aimed at repositioning Kano State as a major industrial and commercial hub in Northern Nigeria and a key trade gateway across West Africa.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Communications Strategy, Mr Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda said President Tinubu’s economic vision is to develop Kano into Nigeria’s second-largest business and industrial centre after Lagos, while also positioning it as a strategic entry point for trade into the Sahel region and Francophone West Africa.

He noted that the administration’s wider economic blueprint would reshape Nigeria’s development pattern by promoting regional balance and boosting industrial growth across the northern region.

According to the statement, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not merely executing development projects in Kano; he is redefining the economic future of Northern Nigeria through Kano,” adding that the city remains “the central commercial hub of the North and a vital link to the broader West African trade network.”

Yilwatda cited ongoing federal projects as evidence of the government’s commitment, including the Kaduna–Kano standard gauge railway, which he said will link Kano to Abuja and other parts of the country, improving the transportation of goods and passengers.

He added that strengthening Kano’s industrial base would help reduce Nigeria’s overreliance on Lagos by creating another major economic centre.

He further stated that “reviving Kano is synonymous with reviving Northern industry,” stressing that the administration is pursuing an integrated infrastructure strategy that combines rail, energy, transport, and industrial development.

The APC chairman also criticised opposition parties, accusing them of prioritising political attacks over presenting alternative policy ideas. He said, “While President Tinubu is building the infrastructure backbone that will transform the North for generations, the opposition is focused on politics and personal ambition rather than national development.”

He added that opposition parties are driven by insults, propaganda, and power struggles rather than constructive engagement.

“They offer no ideas, no blueprint, no alternative vision. Their only manifesto is to insult the APC and attack every development initiative because they lack the capacity to think beyond politics,” he said.
