The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned judgment in a suit challenging the alleged emergence of former Senate President, David Mark, and former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, as National Chairman and Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The case was filed by Kogi State lawmaker, Leke Abejide, who is asking the court to stop both men from presenting themselves as leaders of the party.

Judgment, earlier scheduled for Monday, was postponed by Justice Musa Suleiman Liman to April 14 due to official engagements.

Court officials announced the adjournment to lawyers, journalists, and political actors who had gathered for the ruling, prompting many to leave the courtroom.

The suit, filed through Abejide’s counsel, Ibrahim Idris (SAN), seeks to nullify the alleged handover of ADC leadership and restrain the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising Mark and Aregbesola.

The lawmaker insists the leadership change was unlawful and void, while also seeking a perpetual injunction against their recognition as party leaders.

However, the defendants, represented by different legal teams, urged the court to dismiss the suit, arguing that the matter is an internal party affair and that the plaintiff lacks the legal standing to sue.

They maintained that Mark’s leadership was validly established through a National Executive Committee meeting held in July 2025, describing the case as baseless and academic.
